Here’s my assignment for “Have a Conversation With Yourself”. I wasn’t really excited about doing this because I am a very shy person and hate recording myself! I found it very awkward and weird having a conversation with myself I have no idea how Eddie Murphy or other actor could do this! I couldn’t think of a topic but then I thought, HEY! why not just make the topic about doing my ds106 videos? So that’s what I did, took me many many takes to do it, battery on my camera almost died it took so long. I finally got all the clips I needed and imported them to my computer simply via USB. Copied all of them into my Windows Movie Maker and rearranged them to how I needed and uploaded it to YouTube. I have to say after I recorded all my clips everything else was pretty simple.
I have to say it was super weird watching myself….talk.. to myself? lol
I thought this video was funny when I was recording it of me playing with my nephews. But then after I reversed it and played it backwards I thought it was HILARIOUS. I don’t know what it is but seeing things in reverse makes them so much funnier.
I found and app for iPhones called “Vid Reverse”, it allows you to take a video from your phone and reverses the audio and video for you or one of the other if you would like. I would say that it came in super handy made this assignment much easier than expected. And also got a good laugh out of it!
The NBA Season has just recently started and already its off to an amazing start! The first few weeks have been very intense and there has been some exciting games. I picked and chose my favorite highlights so far which was crazy difficult. I can tell that it is going to be an exciting year for the NBA and the sport of basketball. If you don’t watch it I recommend giving it a chance, it is much more entertaining the other sports. Always constant action going on!
Making this was easy, I have really gotten the hang of Windows Movie Maker and editing the short clips. (I will be getting a MacBook soon so hopefully I learn iMovie just as easy!) Converting the videos from YouTube using a website ‘clipconverter.cc’ is simple and then I am able to do whatever I want with the clips. I hope I start to get a lot of views with my highlight tapes and compilation videos, I might have a nice YouTube page going!
Here is the assignment for my “Sports Mashup”, I created this using clips from google and converting them into files that Windows Movie Maker would allow me to use and edit. I also added a title and ending slide to give a couple messages before and after the videos. The story behind my montage is that all of the players I used, such as Stephen Curry of Jabari Parker are players that fans and critics talked down upon and counted them out. But each of them payed their haters no attention and kept on working and working and now that are at the top of their games and killing the competition. I look up to them specifically for it!
Stephen Curry had no rank coming out of high school, he didn’t have any big Division 1 offers. Only a few minor D1 and D2 schools. No one seen the small 6 foot 2 point guard as anything but a small body with a little talent. Davidson University gave him the chance, over his few years there he didn’t gain any weight or height but what he did gain was confidence. He started to kill the competition his junior year, averaging 28.6 points per game. Now everybody was seeing how much of a threat he really was. NBA teams started to notice him and he became the 7th overall pick to the Golden State Warriors. He got better every single year since and is now the reigning NBA MVP and also won the 2015 NBA Championship. He silenced all the haters and now has everybody on his side.
Jabari Parker was a little different, coming out of high school he was the number one recruit. He had basically every major Division 1 school knocking at his door begging him to come to their program. He chose Duke University where he became the Freshman of the Year. Drafted number 2 to the Milwaukee Bucks, he was a shoe in for Rookie of the Year but…. he got hurt. He tore his ACL and was out for the rest season. Now the guy who was once on top, had hit rock bottom and everybody changed on him, forgot about him. But that didn’t stop Parker, he got healthy did everything he had to do for his knee. Worked hard all off season for his chance back in the NBA and now he has been killing the NBA with his flashy plays. He is the perfect example of the saying “it’s not about how hard you get hit, it’s about how hard you get hit, and get back up.”
I chose this assignment because I have never once made a vine. The app has been popular for about 2 years now and I always just used it to watch different vines. So I think it was a bit weird to actually be making one now. It was pretty simple really. All I had to do was download the app, I had already thought to use my nephews little minion because I find them hilarious. I set him up on the steps, recorded 1 sec for each step to make it seem like he was walking down the stairs. From there I just posted the app on my vine, went on to my computer and got on the vine website. From there they gave me an option to share it via embed code, which I simply copied and pasted into my blog post! I hope you found it funny like I did!
This assignment was called “Highlight Reels”, you were supposed to take an athlete and create a highlight tape for them! So the athlete I chose to you was the one and only James Baylor, MYSELF! I used the highlights from my last season and mashed them all up together using windows movie maker, I got to add a picture and description of myself for the intro and threw a little mix tape instrumental I got from YouTube. I just used converted the file into a mp3 format and inserted it into the background. I had to lower the volume a little bit because at first it was a bit over bearing. Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it!
